Honorable Chief Minister, Odisha released the Flood hazard Atlas for Odisha today on 22.06.2019 in the Odisha Secretariat. The atlas has been prepared by National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC), ISRO, Hyderabad in collaboration with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA).
Shri Arun Kumar Sahoo, Minister, Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment, Shri Sudam Marndi, Minister, Revenue and Disaster Management, Shri Raghunandan Das, Minister,Water Resources, Shri Aditya Prasad Padhi, Chief Secretary, Odisha, Shri Asit Kumar Tripathy, Development Commissioner, Shri G.K. Dhal, Addl. Production Commissioner, BishnupadaSethi, Special Relief Commissioner and Managing Director, OSDMA and other senior officers of the Government of Odisha were present during the release of the atlas.

Diwakar, Director, Earth Observation, Application and Disaster Management Support Programme Office, ISRO Headquarter, Bangalore, Dr. G Srinivas Rao, Scientist, ISRO, Dr. KHV DurgaRao, Head, Disaster Management Support Division, NRSC, ISRO, Hyderabad, Dr DSVSP Sharma, Scientist, NRSC, ISRO, Dr. S.K. Jena, National Disaster Management Authority were also present on this occasion.
Dr. P.G. Diwakar highlighted the methodology adopted for the preparation of the Atlas. A brief presentation was made by Dr. KHV Durga Rao highlighting the key aspects of the atlas.
The efforts of National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), ISRO, Hyderabad on providing near real time flood inundation information on the basis of satellite data were highly appreciated. The flood inundation information is quite useful and being utilized for relief management in the state. The information received from NRSC get customized at OSDMA and used for relief and rescue operations in the past disasters.
